How can I see the Search Results that are cut off?
« on: April 29, 2020, 11:58:26 PM »

I think there might be a problem with the coding that spits out the search results because I searched for the keywords "John Wayne" and it says there are 385 results, but it only will let me see 9 of them. The rest of the results are chopped off.
How can I see them?

Good Question. I think it's been like that for a long time. I'm not staff so I don't know the full answer. I notice that  the search results take up a full page. So there should be a button that takes you to the next page of the search results. There isn't - or if there is, its not visible or obvious.
However if you click on one of the results, you will go to the book and there are 31 of those.
As far as I am aware the only other John Wayne comics would be movie adaptations. Dell did adaptations of about 6 John Wayne movies but I think they were in the 60's and therefore not Public Domain and not on this site.
You could go to GCD -  Grand Comic DataBase, which lists everything,
https://www.comics.org
and search for John Wayne and then come back here and if there is anything listed before 1960, search by publisher. Here
https://comicbookplus.com/?cid=1507

OK - I just had another look at the search results.
Underneath the last entry there is a small and nearly invisible line of check-boxes, starting with #1.
I have missed this in the past, and I may not have been the only one! So thank you.

Good luck Kate!

I'm also getting the exact same problem! If I do a search for "bulletproof" (as I'm trying to research characters that use armor) the search results do not display a full page - so the bottom with the additional pages 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. are cut off. Seems the search options for this web site are still stuck in the late 1990s!

No need to slag off the site, IronOutlaw1880.  I've just this minute searched "bulletproof" and I get 2 pages of suggestions.  Also, we're in the middle of an upgrade so some functions are not working properly, or are missing.  Sorry that you're having problems but bear with us please.  We're all amateurs and fans and some of us are working hard to keep things going and see the site through the upgrade problems.

Heres an idea: isnt there a way to go directly to Google and specify the site to be searched? I will have to consult my book on Google secrets on this. That could be a way to get around the broken search feature on ComicBookplus until Search is fixed.
