I only recently began visiting the Web site and have developed a taste for Joe Doolin's cover art. Can anyone recommend places to find it other than Planet Comics and a few Jumbos and tell me a little bit about Doolin? I didn't find much about him online.

The Field Guide to Wild American Pulp Artists has a detailed entry about Doolin's long career. He started illustrating for the pulps in the 1920s and switched to comics during WWII (he was too old for the draft). Here's the link:

http://pulpartists.com/Doolin.html

I recommend all comics fans who don't know this site to check it out. Tons of comic book artists also worked for the pulps, and the site's well-researched entries are often the only source for info on some illustrators. The home page is simply pulpartists.com.

Thanks. I'll try to find some of his pulp art. I'm an aficionado of pulp art and old style paperback art too.

I just got into his art too by randomly binging on Planet Comics issues. Must be contagious.
