Superman / Spiderman

So who is your most favourite Superman actor of all time. I've always favoured the Superman family of comics above all others - because they were the first ones I bought for myself when I was about seven. It's a bit like choosing your football team (Plymouth Argyle in my case) you can never change it later in life - it's like a psychological lock.

So, as a piece of academic research, who would be your three favourite Supermen?

Mine would be:

1) Dean Cain
2) Ron Ely (yes, he did)
3) Govinda from the 1988 Kollywood movie - Dariya Dil

And just to be fair - who is your favourite Spiderman?

I would go with:

1) Nicholas Hammond
2) Kimiko Glenn (or at least her voice)
3) Kimi Katkar

George Reeves is the only actor I've ever seen in a Superman outfit.  I did also watch Fleischer's 1940s cartoon series that were shown in the cinema.  The only actor on your list I've even heard of is Ron Ely, who I may have seen in a film or 2 but he's too new an actor for me to remember.  I haven't paid much attention to anything after 1964.  That's now 56 years ago.  I remember a lot from about 1948-1964, and a lot from comics from 1938-63, and a lot from films from 1927-60, and books from 1850-1960.

I'm like the owner of Yesterday Ranch, in the 1950s Paul Murry 3-issue serial story of that name, with the owner not allowing anything from after 1899 in his house, on his ranch, or in his valley.

George Reeves for me.  Recently I borrowed the TV shows and am enjoying them.
Spiderman?  Well, never having watched a complete Spidey movie, I'm not in a position to give a favourite actor.  However, I have seen many of the Japanese Spiderman tv show episodes and I like the bloke who plays Spidey in that.  Plus, The incredibly evil Spiderman from the Turkish movie can't be beaten.
The Kollywood movie intrigues me.  There are many non English versions of American superheroes out there and more to be discovered I think.

Well for Superman
Leonard Teal - Who? Played Superman on Australian Radio.
George Reeves - Canon.
Christopher Reeve - Canon.
And mentioning the last two reminds me of the Curse of Superman.
I have always thought David Giuntoli late of GRIMM was born to play Superman, but no, ironically his screen and real-life wife Elizabeth "Bitsie" Tulloch instead gets to be Lois Lane in the TV DC verse and in the upcoming 2021 'Superman and Lois' opposite Tyler Hoechlin.

Spiderman?
There were apparently 21 altogether.

I have to give it to Toby McGuire. If he hadn't nailed it there wouldn't have been any more.
I actually don't mind Andrew Garfield, but no.
Quote
Chris Pine voiced one of the Peter Parkers in "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse."

So I will give him a gong.

Nicolas Cage appears as the black-and-white Spider-Noir.

Of Course he did. Probably didn't even have to pay him. He's a comic fan tragic.

Robb, Ron Ely played Tarzan 66-68. So he is within your time frame.
Doc Savage in 1975. Which is just about out of your time frame.
And Andrew thanks for bringing it to my attention that he did play Superman, in one episode of SUPERBOY in 1990! Doc Savage, Tarzan and Superman. That's a record that wont be beaten I think.

Yes, I watched Tarzan starring Ron Ely, and now I remember him in it.  But the Tarzan of my time was Johnny Weissmuller.  I never saw Doc Savage.  I saw a few minutes of the Christopher Reeve Superman, but didn't like it, so I stopped watching it.

I notice nobody mentioned Henry Cavill. Is he like Voldemoort or something, He Who Is Not To Be Named?
Seriously, though, the Superman closest to my heart will always be the one I grew up with, George Reeves, followed by the other man who defined the role for a new generation, Chris Reeve. For third, I think it would be Tom Welling of Smallville, although technically he wasn't Superman until the last episode.
