This uploaded comic book is slightly incomplete, missing its 2 one-page puzzle pages, and having only a partial scan of its inside front cover advertisement and indicia page.  This unnumbered first issue from 1945, should be considered Issue # 3, as its number series after this issue starts at # 4, in early 1946.  The artwork was provided by The Jason Cartoon Art Studio.  This was Harvey's first complete "Funny Animal" comic book issue and series, which ran only 6 issues, from No. 3 to 8.  This first issue includes the debut of only Helpful Hank (dog), Nutty Squirrel, and Sheriff, Pop Gunn (dog), who all returned only in Nutty Comics (other than in reprints in later series.  Pop Gunn was switched to being a bird character (vulture) in his second appearance in Nutty Comics # 4.

Who exactly was the Jason Art Studio?

Jason Comic Art Studio was an early 1940s East Coast cartoon/comic book art studio which used moonlighting animators from Fleischer Brothers Animation, and Van Beuren Studios, and other East Coast animation studios, to produce funny animal and other "cartoony style" comic book cover drawings and story pages for many of the smaller independent comic book publishers who didn't have their own comic book artist staffs, or had staffs too small to produce all the pages they needed drawn.  Jason produced for many of the publishers who had smaller numbers of book series in the "cartoony comedy style", such as for Farrell's "Hi-Ho" and "Daffy Tunes", while Fago Studios (Al and Vince Fago), also with ex-Fleischer animators, produced for "Kiddie Kapers".  JCA also produced for some of Fox Features comedy production("Cosmo Cat", All Top", "Ribtickler", "Wotalife", "Zoot", "Jo-Jo", and "Li'l Pan" Comics, that Fox's in-house staff couldn't get to.  JCA produced for Rural Home, Croyden, Round Publishing's "Jamboree Comics", Orbit's "Taffy" and "Toytown Comics", they also produced a few stories for Quality'sfunny animal lines, that prolific staffer, Ernie Hart couldn't get to. They also produced for Spotlight, Leffingwell, Ace's "Monkeyshines", and, I think, a few stories for Cambridge House publications.

The company was owned by Leon Jason.  I think they operated on comic book work from 1941-49.
