Hello everyone,

I'm Paul, I'm from Canada and work in Russia now, and have grown up with both US-style comic books and especially Franco-Belgian ones (for which I always had a preference) thanks to my Belgian mother.
Since comics as a cultural thing are quite rare there, I don't have anyone with whom I can actually share my passion, and decided to turn to the Internet... and here I am!
My favorite series are Spirou, Buck Danny and the more recent Jour J, a series of French alternate history comics.

Hello Paul.  Welcome to CB+  You'll certainly be able to share that passion here.  While I'm not such as big a fan as you of Spirou and Buck Danny, although I have read a lot of Buck Danny, I do love a lot of Franco Belgian BD.s - and Dutch comics, as well as lots of other countries' books.

Hi Paul - and welcome!

Where are you in Russia? I worked there on-and-off between 1998-2009, mostly in Moscow, but also in Podolsk, Kazan and Samara. Lectured in various places, including the Technical University and Finance University.  Did the Trans-Siberian express overnight twice - great times!

Welcome. welkom, bienvenue, Fulcrum.  You'll find lots of comics to enjoy here.  And there are lots of knowledgeable posters here who specialise in various genres of comic books and strips, from whom you can learn.
Is your mother's family of Walloon or Flemish origin?  My family originally came from Antwerpen, but my immediate family moved to Den Haag, and others moved to Brussel and Liege(Luik).  Spreek je een beetje Vlaams? 

I write and draw stories for Sanoma Uitgevers (Dutch Disney Comics), who also produce stories for Belgian Donald Duck.  As a child I liked "Suske en Wiske".  But, mostly, I liked Disney, and animation-related comics.
