I think there were some Tailspin Tommy movies made. I seem to recall watching one on Youtube.

Edit: I messed up my references and had to add to this list. There were two Tailspin Tommy serials and four features: Tailspin Tommy (1934 serial, Maurice Murphy as Tommy), Tailspin Tommy in the Great Air Mystery (1935 serial, Clark Williams), Mystery Plane (1939, John Trent), Stunt Pilot (1939, John Trent), Danger Flight (1939, John Trent), and Sky Patrol (1939, John Trent). The serials were produced by Universal. The features each ran barely an hour and were produced by Monogram.
