Deadpool: Doctor Bong
« on: January 22, 2021, 08:56:56 AM »

The quite unusual super-villain Doctor Bong is an under-appreciated adversary of the now-popular Deadpool (Marvel Comics), an iconic American very 'superheroic anti-hero' with a quick wit and great agility and fighting skills. Deadpool is like an affable and witty zombie with swords and guns, and Doctor Bong pairs nicely with him as an underworld enemy, if only because his 'eerie normality' is some reflection of Deadpool's own commitment to the insane. That's why this fan-fiction is dedicated to the delicious qualities of the diabolical Doctor Bong.

Thanks for reading,

Deadpool (Wade Wilson) was invited to attend the Symphony at Salk in the summer of 2010, an annual event at the celebrated and prestigious southern California science institute founded in honor of Jonas Salk and currently hosting various world-esteemed scientists including Francis Crick and Steven Heinemann and Terence Sejnowski. Debadpool arrived with a certain flair, after having teamed up with his good buddy Daredevil (Matt Murdock) in Chicago (Illinois), using theatrical bank robberies to deal with the reputation deflation of the omnious urban mafia-lord Dom Capone, descendant of Al Capone, who stored blood diamonds from South Africa all over Chicago banks. Deadpool now wanted a more calm and sane summer, and gladly accepted the Salk invitation to appreciate the worldly celebration of scientists in evening dress enjoying the outdoor pageantry of achievement based music concerts.

DOCTOR BONG: "I intend to ruin this Symphony at Salk, and I'm going to frame Deadpool!"

Doctor Bong was formerly the eccentric scientist Lester Verde, a psychologically troubled man who's bullied as a youngster and developed an avid interest in science, mutations, and very unusual weapons. He framed himself a metal-bell helmet, which he liberally uses to hit the chests of his 'opponents' and enemies, including Deadpool (Wade Wilson). Doctor Bong was dabbling in chemistry and physics and wanted to develop a series of acid guns for bank robbery units all over America, so armed robberies in the USA would now involve a dose of biochemical face-burning horror. Now, Doctor Bong (Lester Verde) wanted to strike chords of ugly fear into the hearts of the audience and musicians at the Sympony at Salk.

DEADPOOL: "Boy, this outdoor symphony in the courtyard at Salk is so...delicious!"

As Deapool (Wade Wilson) is enjoying this outdoor pageantry in southern California of esteemed scientists reflecting on their year of published accomplishments in the courtyard of the Salk Institute, a lavish structure designed by the iconic and legendary Frank Lloyd Wright himself, he hears a strange noise from the dark sky above, and it's Doctor Bong (Lester Verde) descending in his metal-bell helmet and wielding a megaphone while descending in a parachute. Deadpool realizes Doctor Bong is screaming "Boo, boo, boo!" into his megaphone while descending on the courtyard of the Salk Institute. Deadpool instantly deduces Doctor Bong wants to disrupt the Symphony at Salk and then blame Deadpool's attendance for 'drawing in the desire of darkness' so as to smear Deadpool's reputation.

DEADPOOL: Don't do this, Bong; I just dealt with the seedy repute of Dom Capone!
DOCTOR BONG: Let's see if our fight in California will involve seeds of deformity.
DEADPOOL: I'm getting dry of all this good-versus-evil diarism, Bong.
DOCTOR BONG: Well, I didn't think you'd ever admit to your own sense of despair.
DEADPOOL: Shut up, Bong; let's just let this diagonal game commence.
DOCTOR BONG: "To be continued," eh Deadpool?

You don't say it here, but the illustration [and the link] says you would be aware of it. That is Gene Colan's work from Howard the Duck, and Colan and Steve Gerber created the character.
