A friend and occasional fellow comics researcher, Colin Noble, passed away today.  He had been ill, in hospital, where they found cancer.  In the space of a few weeks he was gone. 
Colin was arguably one of our greatest experts on British comics, particularly war comics, with an encyclopedic knowledge of Commando.  He was one of our small group of fans who met for (or bumped into each other at) marts and cons in Scotland, when there were such things.
It is so sad.  The world of comics has lost a star.  His desire for knowledge, energy in researching and tracking down creators, and his universal popularity with editors, creators and fans, made him a giant in British comics fandom.
I will miss him terribly.

My sincere condolences to Colin's family and friends. I was so sad to hear of his passing.
