The Sterling Chewing Gum ad on the back cover is fascinating. In listing all the things it's free of, the ad suggests that OTHER chewing gums suffer from them. "Untouched by hands." "NO GRIT." And what exactly does "From a daylight factory" have to do with it? Did Wrigley's make crumbling, gritty, uncrowded-with-flavor gum handled by many hands in the middle of the night? Or is it like American chicken ads which tout "raised without antibiotics!" when in fact by law all chicken is raised without antibiotics. And what is the mysterious Point Number 7"?
