Dynamite's Phantom
« on: May 02, 2010, 01:58:46 AM »

I just saw the ad for Dynamites Phantom in FCBD Green Hornet. I am not happy. The Phantom like you have never seen him before means ruined. Since they do GH Year One maybe they will continue the Phantom Generations idea and spotlight past Phantoms.

Yeah, when I saw it I thought "Gee, it's Black Terror in the jungle" -- lovely.  :-\

I think I found the illo you're talking about.  If that's the case, I'm not happy either.  Black Terror in the jungle just about says it all. What a truly original, great idea.  Let's make this wonderful character all vicious and moody looking.  Perfectly continues the tone set down since 1936.  I know, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but it's about all I can come up with till I calm down a wee bit.

The Black Terror could be considered a bit like he's now portrayed.  But he hasn't been published continuously for all that time and ..... oh,I give up.
Sorry, gone a bit incoherent.
You have seen the trailer for the tv show?  If this is your reaction to Dynamites version, don't look at the tv one.

Let's face it-- they're just not writing comics for us geezers anymore! (That's why we're on this site) By trying to capture new readers, the publishers are destroying what made the characters great in the first place. Forgive them- they know not what they do. Cheers, Jeff

Sorry, Boox, I was so angry re the Phantom that I was unclear in what I wrote. I was talking about the Phantom tv show, coming up on Sy Fy in june ( according to those nice people at Chronicle Chamber).  What do you think they would do with a Black Terror tv show?

::WHEW::  A Phantom tv show I can handle...a Black Terror tv show would most likely be either 'pretty boy emo' or 'kill kill kill'.  ;D ;D ;D

Jeff, you're right, that's why I'm on here.
Unfortunately, Phantom Phans, if you haven't seen the trailer for, or stills of, the SY-Fy show, then you haven't seen the worst yet.  Wait till you behold this costume.  And at one point I think he has nunchuks, or whatever they're called.

Realise many of you wont have seen the Phantom trailer.  So here it is.  Be worried, be very worried.
The legend has it that you never see The Phantoms eyes - so there you go, all these smart tv "creative" people know better.  The only good thing about this is that Mr. Falk didn't see it.

SyFy has been the suck for a while now. Like at least as far back as when they decided one night of the week has got to be four or five hours of back to back Ghost Hunter episodes. I mean, how many times we got to watch these guys walking around a dark house saying "Did you hear that?" I heard it, it was the wind cracking around me in my haste to switch channels.

;D

The only people who see ghosts are those who believe there might be ghosts. On the travel channel ghost town shows some people have even figured that out

I was just going to insert the post I made on C.C re. this only to discover they're down for a couple of days. So you'll just have to wait for my further rantings on the dire fate of a legendary, much loved hero.

I've been considering inviting a film crew from one of the paranormal series to visit my property in the mountains. Theres definitely some force at work there that affects the senses and thoughts of those who stand on the spot where my gunfighter ancestor killed himself.
