There is something surreal about a comic titled "Funny Picture Stories" with a cover showing a man with an arrow in his chest.

But the poor planning of the cover drawing takes away the impact of the violence, because the handkerchief in the victim's pocket lies in a line straight from where the arrow enters the man's chest, and makes the hanky look like a soft paint brush at the front end of the arrow, which now looks like it never penetrated his skin, and the blood on the arrow just looks like colour decoration, to match the feathers on the back end.
