Paw,

She mentions a series or story from Spellbound in 1977, called 'the strange ones' This features 3 whitehaired schoolgirls complete with matching uniforms - and White Hair, which is the giveaway -who have super 'mental powers'. Impossible for me not to believe that Morrison didn't know of them and put them in the X-men as The Midwich Cuckoos. And yes I know that the name comes from John Wyndham.
So we have a double reference from Morrison's X-men.
