I watched most of the Andy Hardy movies years ago when one of my local TV stations decided to play one every Saturday until the whole series was done. Really enjoyed them and even owned three old VHS videos with the ones that Judy Garland was in. I didn't know there was also a comic book. This was fun and the art is really good. Reminds me a bit of Archie in both the art style and the stories.

There are four complete stories and some one-pagers. Times have changed and a few of the remarks would be seen as sexist today. For example when Andy has a disagreement with Polly and she's not speaking to him, his mother tells him about a similar argument she once had with Andy's father in which Judge Hardy knocked the door down. Andy marches over to Polly's house to do the same. When she won't let him in, he says 'You're asking for it, woman' and literally kicks the door down. She thinks he's wonderful for being so masterful. Today she'd be calling the police and getting a restraining order! But this is the 1950s and of course it all comes unstuck by the end of the story and Andy manages to get in her bad books again. The other stories are fun and show Andy getting in the usual scrapes, though he and best friend Beezy do manage to catch a crook with their cutting-edge two-way car radios! All in all, a great touch of nostalgia. I found myself smiling a few times while reading it.

I like Andy Hardy very much, too.  It was drawn by ex-Disney animator, Al Hubbard, who worked on several of the Classic Disney animated films, and was the main artist for the Lady and The Tramp, and spinoff  "Scamp" comic book series.  I am pretty sure that most, if not all the series' stories were written by Western Publishing's main "Teen Comedy" writer, John Stanley, famous for writing most of the "Little Lulu" and "Tubby" Comic book stories, and also all 22 issues of Western's "Henry Aldrich" comic book series.

In addition to those 2 Andy Hardy comic books (5 and 6) in his numbered series, Dell published 4 other "Andy Hardy" books in their "Four Color Comics" series, Four Color 389, 447, 480, and 515.  For some reason, Number 480 is not on this website.  I will upload my copy to CB+ as soon as I can.

You can find the other 3 CB+ Four Color Andy Hardy issues at the following links:

Andy Hardy  FC 389   https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=37770

Andy Hardy  FC 447   https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=38430

Andy Hardy  FC 515    https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=27196

In addition, as you like "Andy Hardy" so much, I am sure you will like "Henry Aldrich" just as much, as they are very similar, and were written by the same writer, and storyboarded by the same artist (John Stanley), and the finishing artist, Bill Williams was very good, too.

At this link, you will find links to all 22 issues of "Henry Aldrich" comics, which were based on the 1940s radio programme, and the subsequent late 1940s films.  Just like "Andy Hardy", they were about a teenaged boy growing up and getting into trouble and adventures in dating, and dealing with parents, high school teachers, high school social life, etc.   I'm sure you will like it just as much:

I have just uploaded the missing "Andy Hardy" Dell/Western Publishing's Four Color Comics #480 to this website.  But, it probably won't appear in that series' section until after a day or two, needed for it to be processed by CB+ Moderators/Editors, and the GCD information section to be added.

Thanks so much, Robb, and for all the helpful tips in your longer comment. I'm keeping a list where I copy all of these things, so will add it right now. My reading list is getting longer by the minute.

Thanks so much, Robb. You're a fount of information. The illustrations were really a step above a lot of others I've seen, so that explains why. Thanks for all of the other links in your comment too. I've added them to my list.
