I was so saddened to learn that one of my all time guitar heroes had died.  Wilko passed away this week aged 75.  Mick Green and Wilko perfected a style of playing that wasn't the virtuoso stuff of Clapton, Green etc, but sharp, choppy, exciting, sounding often as if there were 2 guitars on the go.  Wonderful.

 Sorry to hear the sad news about Wilko, Paw. The great ones keep leaving us and there are precious few standing in the wings. He will be missed and well-remembered!

His story is fascinating, he was told he was going to die quite some time ago, but he just kept on keeping on, performing almost right to the end.
I am on a music sharing site, so I know there will now be quite a lot of Wilko shares in the next week or so.

One of my regrets is that I didn't see the Feelgoods when I was in the UK in 77'.

I was a teenager, when I got the 1976 live album 'Stupidity' from an elderly relative for my birthday. Until then I had rarely heard such energetic music, especially the songs "Back in the night" and "I'm a hog for you baby" are among my all-time classics. To protect the LP, I recorded it on an audio cassette at the time, so that the LP is still in good condition today.

When I first saw Dr. Feelgood on VHS video cassettes, I liked Wilko right away.

 Wilko was also bit of a local legend here in Southend where his picture used to adorn the pub sign outside the Railway Hotel in the town centre. Like paw says, his style owed a lot to the late, great  Mick Green but his onstage persona was entirely unique and the Feelgoods were legendary. Sad to see him go, especially after the fight he put up. RIP Wilko Johnson.
