Hi,

I'm 24 and British and I first ever experienced "retro" comics from my Grandmother who gave me her Bunty comic - I'm not sure which issue but I loved the cut out paper doll that came with it as I had a wooden box with a doll and outfits just like her. All I can remember was that there was a story about some school girls made to do chores and maybe another comic about a young girl who was a tomboy trying to impress a man, and then the ending was that she became girly by being afraid by a mouse? Also maybe there was a story about a woman placing a spiked ball under a saddle, and maybe one about a girl detective? But it's been so long the details may be fuzzy.

I joined a while ago and have been loving Love Diary and Darling Love - 1950s romantic comics are so lovely to read. Also, as you may well tell from my profile picture, I love all things Barbie and I love all her issues.

Since I have finally built the courage to post, I suppose I'm hoping to be able to chat to like minded comic fans and hear what new recommendations you all have.

I'am also interested in some superhero comics - I'm particularly interested in either Spiderman or X-Men. If you have any recommendations for starting I would be very appreciative! I actually have a small collection of Spiderman comics left by my late father - what years are you interested in being uploaded?

Hi lavenderfaire and welcome.  I think it's possible you might have read your grans copies of Schoolgirl Picture Library.  You'll find them from the links Mark posted.
As for superheroes and while we can't offer you DC or Marvel titles, there are some excellent superhero comics available. Bear in mind, some Golden Age comics can be quite violent and occasionally gory, Hangman for example. But there are good read in the Tower Comics range:-

1950s romantic comics are so lovely to read. 

The 1950's were the boom times for Romance Comics in the US, and there are many of them here.
Quite different from the UK ones!

The books on CB+ are PD - in the public domain, which means 'out of copyright'. So no Marvel or DC comics can be uploaded here. But thanks for the offer.
But you will find a lot of early work by artists and writers who worked for those companies.
Here is the 1967 BLUE BEETLE by steve Ditko, who was the original artist on Spiderman, for example.
