Hello,
My name is Cheryl and I work for an educational publishing company. I am currently writing a learning resource pack about superheroes for use in schools. I am trying to find public domain examples of short comic strips that would be appropriate for children (ie no racist undertones, no very scantily-clad women, bad language etc.) but that still exemplify the main features of Golden/Silver Age superhero comics, e.g. lots of onomatopoeia, secret identity, lots of action, etc., that are also not overly long. I have spent hours trawling through the bank of comics and am struggling to find anything that fits the bill (when I look in the children's section it is pretty much all adventure stories rather than superheroes), so I thought maybe I should reach out and ask the experts! If anyone has any advice to point me in the right direction and avoid me having to go through every comic one-by-one, I'd be extremely grateful.
Thanks in advance!
