Happy New Year
« on: January 01, 2025, 10:50:36 AM »

A Happy New Year to all our friends on comicbookplus.
Or, as  the Broons would put it,  A guid New Year tae yin an' a'.
At our age, my wife and I don't stay up for the bells, but we were up earlyish this morning and after breakfast, we ventured out for a new year's morning walk.  Cold, wet, sleety but surprisingly invigorating.
Edinburgh's outdoor Hogmanay celebrations were cancelled because of really bad weather.
We've chosen wine to accompany dinner, the house is warm and cosy, aperitivi organised including a lovely, dry, Spanish sherry which is a bit of an indulgence.   I smell coffee. Time for German pfeffernusse and strong Italian coffee.
Keep safe, read comics.

Not only a Happy New Year, but happy Public Domain Day (at least in the U.S.)! Let's all celebrate the liberation of a new batch of printed works! Cheers, bowers

2025 - one quarter of the century!
When I was younger, in my wildest dreams I never conceived of being alive in a new century,  let alone for 25 years.

I hate to disparage your mathematics abilities, but, actually, we have to live out this year, fully, to have lived through one quarter of the new century.  I'm confident that we all will, but your premise would be more apropos NEXT New Year's day.

Still and all, as a young child, I thought 30 years was "old", and didn't really think about reaching the 80 mark (which I'm approaching at an alarming rate as the years fly by).  I DID think about what life and The World might be like during The 21st Century, and luckily things are a LOT more the same than I thought they'd be by 2025.  I wouldn't want to be dwelling on another planet (unless it would have been fully terraformed).

But it is interesting to see the changes, and the things I thought would change that haven't,  Anyway, I 'm glad to still be around and in good health for my age.  So I wish the same for all of us for lots more years!

Actually, Robb old mate, I don't think I actually said that, I just pointed out that 25 is a quarter of 1OO and we are in the 25th year.
Still, I live in hope that both of us are still here when 2026 rolls around and beyond.
Salutations and blessings,
