A couple of errors for future reference
« on: November 05, 2006, 11:21:31 PM »

Today (11/5) I started getting this message when I clicked on various things:

PHP script /home2/golden/public_html/index.php is protected by SourceGuardian and requires the SourceGuardian loader ixed.4.4.lin. The SourceGuardian loader has not been installed, or is not installed correctly. Please visit the SourceGuardian php encoder site to download required loader.

This didn't happen all the time, even on the same action.  Also, I never saw the error before today.

Another error that goes way back (and is probably already noted) is the one where the system won't let you download a file when you first try it on any given day.  The second and following tries work fine, so it's no big deal for me anyway.

Aussie spotted this error and I have also gotten this error. Chances are its due to be not fully installing sourceguardian correctly so when I get some spare time ill have to have another go at it so ignore these errors for time being and ill hopefully get to fix it within next few days.

Can you post more information on this error as I have never come across this error before so would likea s much information you can provide so I can try and get the error to occur on my account OR hopefully another user will confirm the error. More information also means I can look into getting it fixed.

Thanks for the error reports.

I now get this error -

PHP script /home2/golden/public_html/index.php is protected by SourceGuardian and requires the SourceGuardian loader ixed.4.4.lin. The SourceGuardian loader has not been installed, or is not installed correctly. Please visit the SourceGuardian php encoder site to download required loader.

as soon as I try to access the site...  unable to get past it.  Hopefully it's just me.   It was just occasionally, on certain files, but now it is the entire site.

If you give it a few minutes it will go away, its just happens every once and a while due to misconfigured software that I have not had time to fix yet.

That error can occure anywhere on the website so it could be index.php page one day and next day it might come up with a file, the error normally fixes itself thou after few minutes so just keep trying.

When I finish my work for this week (Thursday) ill have lots of spare time to fix the error.

Can't fix it till then as currently in work and when I finish I have to prepare notes for my classes tomorrow and then I'm back in work after finished teaching my classes. So first chance ill get to look at fixing error is thursday morning.

Today I went to the User's Control Panel first and that seemed to eliminate the problem.  I'll try again tomorrow after it resets, but the sequence I remember is: start at home page, go page by page to a single comic, click on "download", get error about can't download (I think due to too much downloading done that day), go back to page of comic I wanted to download, click on download again and no problem.  Thereafter, (till the downloadable amount is used up) no problem.

Thursday or Friday ill investigate the can't download first time problem.

It might be that the site isn't updating your account quick enough with the days new bandwidth so when you log on you still have yeasterdays and once you click on the download it errors out cos of it but then updates the database relising its a new day, that might be what the error is something like. Cos when you go to UCP first the panel shows how much bandwidth you have left for the day so mightbe updating the database.

So if you do have this trouble might be best to visit UCP first before downloading to just see if it solves any problems.

Just wanted to confirm what I reported the other day.  The error message says that the file I wanted to download was too big for the amount remaining.  I just clicked on "back", tried it again, no problem.  As I said, this doesn't bother me since it just takes one more step a day.
