The Fawcett Universe & Petition
« on: July 17, 2011, 07:15:01 PM »

My website, the Fawcett Universe, is dedicated to the great public domain characters from Fawcett Publications and, more recently, the equally great characters from Quality Comics. The site includes a guestbook, message boards, a gallery, chat room, and a blog.  Changes will hopefully begin taking place in the next couple of month (see next paragraph), including offering free digital comics which I will also be posting both on GAC and DCM.

The petition, for lack of better terms, asks Warner Brothers and DC Comics to allow me to purchase the Fawcett and Quality characters, including publication rights, for a fair price.  If I can swing this, I'll start putting out new books that are faithful to the original source materials, though not slavishly so, but not so far off the mark that the characters are unrecognizable.

Here are the links.  If posting them  like this breaks a rule, I'll gladly edit them.

You do realize if DC is flooded with petitions to allow you to do this, it would only increase the value of these characters and hence the fair price you'd have to pay on the wildly off chance they'd agree.

Also, it costs them nothing to keep them, they probably get merchandizing income on "Shazam!" ... I'm not seeing the plan.

Characters are only as good as the writers who write them

Well, you can't say I didn't expect this sort of response, because I did.
