There's the slightest possibility that this article will be of interest to some of you.  Apart from anything else it discusses a branch of comics which didn't really exist in N. America but it is also a treatise on the perceived effects of comics on girls and their parents from different classes. Not explaining it well so have a read at the text:-

...I have seen occasional repros of British " girl's comics " ~ really, analogous to the " romance comics " here plus I suppose the more humo(u)r teenage-female-heroine Betty & Veronica/Thriteen Going On 18 stuff here, I would guess ?? ~ Some WONDERFUL art!!!!!!!!! I'd like to see more.
