I just got a book "Edison-Inspiration to Youth" which is a reprint of a comic serial that ran in newspapers from King Features in 1927.  Copyright 1927 from King and Copyright 1928 and 1939 from Thomas A. Edison, Inc.  Would this be OK here?  Prince Valiant style with the words under the pictures 78 pages black and white a neat find.

Guess we are all not that picky on the finesse in a scan, aye?

Now appearing in the FTP theatre near you is a scanned from original paper zipped copy of Quality Pub's 1953 Plastic Man No. 41 located in the rez folder..

Pages up to #25 were scanned by Irfanview without using the sharpening step.
Page #26 and the backcover have two scans each, one scan without using the sharpening step and one with.

I did this for the purpose of comparison as it is requested that readers will post their opinion as to which scan they deem better in use, the scan with the sharpening or the one without.

The sharpened step is the second scan of the two and listed with an s after the 41in the individual page titles.

The pages 27 thru 32 all used the sharpening step.
It is interesting to note that sharpening increases the size of the file by almost a quarter.

Almost bid on that but decided the money could be spent joined to the price of another book instead, as hopes of seeing it up here on goldenagecomics will be affirmed.

This has the strong stink of Atlas/Marvel -- I do not think you can post this book on the download site for GA-UK to host -- unless I have missed something in a previous thread.

Neat cover though.

EDIT: I have checked...this is indeed an Atlas brand comic book, thus, sadly, it is not going to fly on GA-UK.

The storyline seemed so different from the norm I thought it worth the scan time.
Of course thinking the publisher as 'Leading Comic Corp.' I went ahead and just finished scanning the pages and got to thinkin'.

So I says to myself 'boy, you best better go double check' and ran thru the download forum files seeing no listing of Leading Comics and thought ok, I'll go on.

So I am working on the indica and think I'll add a little jazz about artist and the like if data is available and grab an Overstreet to look it up and ...and....and......%$@#$%!!! I say 'hey, I wonder if anyone replied to the Coming Soon blurb?'.

Man that's the second time I've made worthless scans after my National Comics #36 repeat of an already available scan. At least this time I hadn't completed the resizing yet.


This is truly depressing.

Still need an answer if it is OK to post my Edison book here.  If it is OK is anyone interested in having it posted here?  Original 1927 King Feature newspaper strip.  I think the Edison family owned the copyright. Even the renewal should be expired correct?

Well it is sometimes hard to remember what we can and cannot have with all the different imprints, cover is fine, Marvel is not going to worry about covers.

There are plenty of other available resources for scans that are not PD so no scan is ever going to be worthless, and even if scanned, more than one scan to choose from is always appreciated since we all have different tastes in how we like our digital comics. The Venus 7 for example has not been completely scanned, so no doubt there would be at least a few hundred people around the globe who would love a chance to read it.

l will look the Edison book up later today narfster l do not have time at the moment, l am hopeful since it is not copyrighted by King features that we might be able to have it, but then Mr. Edison might have renewed it himself. Hiding the request in another thread is perhaps not the best way to be noticed though.

I got a karma that mysteriously reappeared.

I see it can take a certain amount of working knowledge to be able to discern the various abnormlities that occurred in comicdom over the years to stay abreast of things. I knew of the Atlas/Marvel tie in of course but never the association to Leading Comics so another interesting bit of trivia learned the hardway.
Well, I do have a very very interesting comic that I'd forgotten all about that was discovered within that box of romance comics. Completely  unaware that it was even in there. Got it years ago around the same time as the romance books and without thinking must have put it in there.
Could have seen another one and never known I had one.

That 1944 book is about 5inch by 8inches in size with 128 pages.
Listed as 10 t0 20 copies estimated to exist in an old overstreet and Narf comes up with a copy. Cracks me up.

Only if it was a GA reprint and not the reprint being currently sold.

Seems these 128pg books could be broken down into smaller books for sale. 
Henry Peters shared scans of the Topps Comics 2001 'Jack of Spades' 32pg section of Narf's book which featured two Jack stories and 4 gag pages.  I've also seen the Black Orchird stories from the same book as Narf has.  That would make it 63pgs of the 128pg book have been scanned in some way.

Narf, we'd love to see the whole book someday.
