After a slight hiccup in the production timetable, we now have another Buck Ryan thriller. This time, "Twilight Escapes", from 1947. Wiseman provided the original strips and helped solve the mystery of the missing tier.

Just a note to say that Wiseman noticed that story # 31 was missing, and he's correct. I missed it somehow and jumped to the next one. I'll get on it asap. Apologies to all.

Back on schedule again - sort of - as we now have that missing story up and available. Untitled in the UK, it was given the title, "Crime With a Collar" in Australian papers. Despite my note that this was story #31, I'm now pretty sure that it's #30. Not that that's of any great interest to readers who just fancy a good read

Thanks again to Wiseman for all his work digging out the strips. I should add that even using the imaging tool that I got from Krac, straightening a strip that's been too tightly cropped, loses some detail at the edges. So, at times I've had to leave some strips not quite as straight as I would like. Hope it doesn't jar too much.

Another Buck Ryan today. This time, The Riddle of the Stolen Jewels from 1948. Some of the individual tiers were damaged and some are a bit faded, but the story is complete. As Twilight features again, you are in for a treat. I hope

Something a bit different, today, a compilation of a text strip from the 1st. series of Hotspur, when it was still a storypaper. Sometimes there was a picture story in the centre pages, and this is one of them. Invasion Target - EARTH, ran from end of 1956 to early 1957 and was graced with excellent S.F. art by Ron Smith.
The text boxes aren't as easy to read as they could be but I hope you enjoy the story anyway.

A new section in Dutch Comics, Bob Crack. This was a 19 issue run from 1947 - 1949 and, reflecting the paper shortages after WW2, the books are tiny, in this case measuring 11.1/2 cm x 8 cm. We have 4 examples now and you will find them here:-

Another new section in Dutch Comics. This time a giveaway by Spar in 1954. Dolf Staal was a 6 issue run and I've found issues 1 - 5. Landscape, 2 illos to a page in textstrip format. But the best thing about these comics is the art by Georges Mazure, brother of Alfred of Dick Bos fame. Georges is considered by many fans and students of comics as the superior artist of the two. Now, if someone can only come up with a few issues of G.M's Spot Morton issues. Please.

Back to Buck Ryan today and this story is entitled, "Moon Murder". From 1948, it has all sorts of dirty deeds, dark dungeons and nefarious no-gooders. For the time, there is some nasty stuff in this one.
You can find it in the Buck Ryan section in Newspaper comic strips.

A bit of a rarity this time. Thrill Comics #14 from 1946? is a Gerald G Swan title. The series comprised 35 issues plus 3 Specials and ran from 1940 - 1950 when it joined Girls' Fun. This issue features Darrell King; an S.F story; Ivan the Wolf Boy and, of course, Stoogie.

The first story was chopped up and reprinted as Thriller Comics Library #117 in 1956.

Finally, another Buck Ryan recreation. This time Buck Ryan and the Terrorists from early 1945. All thanks are due to Wiseman who painstakingly searched out the tiers from various sources, and manipulated the images to bring them up to a decent, readable condition. One tier completely eludes us and there is a bit of damage in one panel. Apart from that, both of us are agreed that, while the story isn't the best, there is still a lot of action and some atmospheric panels, so we hope you enjoy this recreation.

Another Buck Ryan "thrills and spills" tale.
Rule of The Road caused me problems because I kept losing concentration and made a mess of the cover and a couple of pages, so had to go back a couple of times to re-assemble them. Even then, I still had 2 duplicate panels and I'm sure you'll quickly see where they were. I just couldn't bear to go back and do the page yet again.

Wiseman should be given a medal for restoring the bad nick tiers, about half the total, to a decent condition for reading.
