Just spent over a hundred bucks primarily for scanning. Is there a cure for this addiction? A twelve step program? I did get some unlisted SA books just for me but I earned em. I invite some more of you to go to milehighcomics.com and try and find some of their bargains. If you like romance they had several.

Thank you, Narf.  Looking forward to the books.

I'm not the person to ask about a 12-step program.  I've spend over a hundred bucks on A book primarily to scan.

Does 1960 apply to Advs into the Unknown as well?  I can upload those.

The end of 1959 is the usual time limit on posts Jon.
Hope that helps.

Hey Jim... I have a feeling this is an Atlas/Timely reprint... Bell was doing a lot of them at this time and it looks like one where he took a splash page and made it into the cover.  I would be interested if it has new stuff on the inside covers, sometimes Bell had Adrian Dingle do new stuff (presumably because he didn't buy the plates for the covers)... of course I've also seen some inside covers that look like an untalented 8 year old did them...

Cool stuff, can't wait to see it all!

If it's really from 1950, Peter,
it's unlikely to be a Timely reprint, but I'll withhold judgment until I see it.

It looks like a comic, it smells like a comic but it ain't a comic
« Reply #464 on: March 16, 2009, 11:24:13 PM »

I bought these for about $6 apiece to scan and post and dadgum I'm gonna post 'em. If admin wants them removed I will remove them. I suspect they will be allowed. I thought they might be more comic oriented but they are not. The Star Coloring book has the size and numbering and even the ads of a comic book. It does not have any stories though. It is a rhyme for each letter of the alphabet to promote safety. The book is actually a hoot (as they would have said in 1953). Especially love page 32. Animated Funnies actually must be animated by you. This is something to the flying Marvels stuff from Fawcett so it might be appreciated. I was hoping they were more comic but hey.

Monty Hall is a Sweetie Pie
« Reply #469 on: March 21, 2009, 04:02:28 AM »

No I am not talking about the Lets Make a Deal guy being a good guy. Sweetie Pie 15 is in the Better Section. I added /Pines on the end. Standard did not cease publication in 1956 they just took on the name of the parent company Pines. Monty Hall 9 is up in the Toby section. Also tonight I created a Youthful/Trojan category. I believe it was just a name change someone can let me know if I am wrong.

I am SO glad I'm going away tomorrow, Narf! I really don't want to play in the Youthful/Trojan sandbox. It is MORE than a name change. For instance, Youthful published Attack 1-4 in 1952. When Trojan took over (in Jan. 1953) and published Attack issues 5-8, simultaneously, also beginning Jan. 1953, Youthful published issues 5-8 of Atomic Attack. There was something very weird going on. When I get back, if Jon or Eric or jc or bc or someone (ANYONE!) else hasn't documented the indicia/address differences and the Ownership Statement differences, I'll rejoin the fray. I hope I'm not needed.

Missing 2 centerfolds in Dell. BTW flattery is the sincerest form of praise. I liked Yoc's altered cover so I started to do some. Has it been a chuckle or waste of time? Jack the Giant Killer has one Narfstar of the US Marines #9 er Monty Hall that is and now Angel and some others.

LOL, cute Narf.  :)
You sir need to get a copy of PhotoShop or PaintPro from somewhere.

Those MonkeyNFO covers I've made actually take quite a while to do but I've always enjoyed them more than the actually scans so they are my reward for a job.  I never do them before the rest of the book is finished.
*sigh*, it's been a while since I've done any edits and I've got a pile of things on hold here... [Costello]I'm a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad Monkey![/Costello]

Missing 2 centerfolds in Dell.

One of the (very very) few things I find annoying about this site is finding out I have scans that I thought were not PD but are apparently OK to upload which could have saved someone some work.  I have scans of the entire Angel series most of them scanned by me or Dell4C.  I will upload these now.  There is no issue #1 it was Four Color 576 which I will also upload once I check to see if it's needed.

Would some nice moderator make a subgroup for Angel under Dell, please.

So while I'm thinking about it, what's the PD status of Little Iodine also all scanned?

And before anyone scans a Dell comic, I'd suggest some work might be saved by checking
http://www.cbarchive.com/Dell/DellChecklist.htm
to see if it's already been scanned.  I should be able to post any PD Dell that that list says is scanned.

All issues of Beware I've seen give a Trojan Magazines address of 125 East 46th Street NY in 1953-5

Ditto for Crime Smashers #15 (1953)

Crime Mysteries by "Ribage Publishing Corp. (Trojan Magazines)" according to Overstreet lists 480 Lexington Ave, NY in 1953

Fantastic #8 from Youthful lists 1 Appleton Street in Hoyoke Massachusetts as its address but gives 105 East 35th St NY as the address of the editorial office.

Redskin #11 (Aug '52) from Youthful lists 420 DeSoto Ave St. Louis as it's address with the same editorial office address as Fantastic.
