Your upload of Monte Hale Western (Charlton) 086__1955___c2c___Sooth_ is a broken archive, with only 15 pages that are good or in the file at this time, (also looks to be a pretty small file for a c2c at a little over 12 megs). Check your backup Narf to see if it's good or not please.
Thanks.

Oddball that is narfstar caused me to get an obscure little item called Red Ball Comic Book. Shoe store giveaway comics must have worked as there were several. This one only lasted two issues. The first is now available with narfstar scans and edits.

Two new issues of Young Love and one Young Romance in the Prize section. These are some you won't see on DCM since they are post 1960 Prize comics.

Narfstar scans and edits. I wonder if O. Whitney ever lent a hand ghosting or inking Tony Trent. This issue Trent feature has a lot Whitney looking panels to me.

I looked at those Young Love issues over the weekend.  Both have a couple of Bob Powell stories each in them but they are quite different looking from the work Powell was turning out just a few years before.  It's much simpler looking style.  Backgrounds are sparse or non-existent in many panels.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was just penciling bare-bones layouts and doing much of the drawing with his brush when he was inking.  I also wouldn't be surprised to learn that he had shifted his working methods to accommodate a lower per page rate.  All just speculation on my part, of course.

Check 'em out and compare for yourselves.

Best

Interesting.  Was this a superhero created especially for the BLB market or was it adapted from some comic book source?

Curious

according to biglittlebooks.com

" MAXIMO, THE AMAZING SUPERMAN Victor Appleton (pseudonym). Artist: J. R. White. COLLECTOR'S NOTE: This book was written and drawn specially for the BLB format. It was Whitman's response to the popularity of Superman." There were actually two before the one I posted. The first was renewed not sure about the second. I do not have them.

Smaller version of Captain Marvel 24 is now available. Alter-Ego is once again available with the acceptance by Roy Thomas who does own the trademark. Talullah 2 cover to cover is also up. Does anyone know anything about this book? Metropolitan printed six books. Talullah 2 was printed with Boots and Saddles 1 then they were cut apart. My guess is that all six books were printed on large newsprint then cut apart. Talullah was with Boots because part of that cover can be seen with it. The interesting thing about Talullah is that it is the only known second issue. The other five were series one and distributed together in a five pack for a dime. A second series was planned. So was Talullah 2 ever distributed? How rare is my issue?
Could it be a Gerber 9. These books do not appear in Gerber.

George Tuska and Al Luster files have been put in the artist showcase. These are small single stories to get things started. Two stories from Art Saaf. More to come. Please feel free to collect your favorite artists work from books in the public domain and post them here.
