Greetings Everyone
« on: July 08, 2008, 04:09:45 PM »

Congratulations to everyone involved on one of the most fantastic comics related sites I've found. I stumbled across it while browsing and am delighted I did. I am a 60 year old comic book lover from central Illinois, USA (land of corn, soybeans, and constant arguments between Cubs and Cardinals fans) and can remember trading some of these titles in the mid fifties. I've made a small donation to show my appreciation for the site and will try to continue to do so monthly.

One quick question. Is there a glossary to some of the abbreviations found in the scan listings, for example, what does 2c2 mean? Again thanks to everybody for a great resource.

Welcome Paul!
:)

C2C means Cover-2-Cover.  A complete book ads and all.
You might also see 'fiche' and 'digital camera.'  These are scans not taken by the usual method of placing a comic on a scanner.  Fiche scans are taken from a microfiche source and while readable they are pale cousins of the real thing and only used as place holders until a 'real' scan can replace them.
Digital camera scans are the domain of Narfstar.  He's found it faster and less damaging to his comics to take pictures of the pages.  Again these aren't as nice looking as a normal scan but they are readable and give you a taste of the book.

IFC is inside front cover and IBC would be the inside back cover.

I believe that should cover most of them for you.

Enjoy the goodies!

Howdy from the great state of Texas.Iv'e been a comic fan since the early 80's and once had well over 5000 comics spanning silver age to modern age.sold most of my collection on ebay, but still own a large run of captain america# 150-300,conan #50-200,and an almost complete run of batman and dectective comics from 1980-1999 the bat titles were the last i gave up buying regularly.also kept my charlton western collection including around 50 issues of billy the kid.I still buy the occasional reprint collection.I love comic art and have been drawing myself ever since i laid eyes on How to draw comics the marvel way way back in 1984! Iv'e recently finished writing and drawing the first issue of a silver age/golden age inspired comic and sent it to a local small comic book publisher.

Welcom Palooka,

There are a bunch of Charlton fans here.  Scans of those are harder to come by than those of some of the otehr publishers becuse CHarlton had such poor distribution.

Welcome aboard,

Jon
