Guys, you can read a nice article by Michelle Nolan on Blazing and other Rural Home/Enwil Comics comics here:
http://www.cgccomics.com/news/enews/cgc_enews_0507july.htm

Sounds like a 'real' Blazing#6 might be a myth as the cover was used with remainders much like what I thought #5 was.  If there IS a Blazing #5 with a Green Turtle story I'd LOVE to see scans of it!  Green Turtle doesn't get a cover mention on #5

This small blurb from the cgc site: "Now, not only is CGC certification accepted, most of the top collectors won't buy a comic book unless it has the safety of the CGC label and encapsulation." -- that makes me cry.  :'( :'( :'(

Maybe I'm naturally cynical, but I'd be willing to bet that they define "top collector" as anyone who "won't buy a comic book unless it has the safety of the CGC label and encapsulation."  After all, if it was actually popular, DC and Marvel would be looking at shipping out their entire line "encapsulated," just like they started pre-bagging in the '90s.

Or maybe they mean "collector" as anybody who buys looking to sell at a profit.  They don't care about the book, but just their investment, so that'd make sense.

There is a company peddling near mint NEW books slabbed at premium prices.  Like the buyer will ever get the price of slabbing back let along make a profit.  They do include an unslabbed with each out of the generousity of their heart.  Hey it is free enterprise.  If one person is dumb enough to buy it another is smart enough to sell it.

Sounding similar to what coincollecting has had happen to their hobby over the years.

Slabbed books sounding like a proof set. :-X

Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. Busy with school. But hopefully I can get around to something tonight, so I'm bumping this thread up.

I'm not quite sure where I was in my CDs/DVDs, but I know I've just about worked my way through them, meaning I should be scanning new stuff soon*!!!

*Soon being a relative term given my schedule...  ::)

Hi Eric, always great to hear from you!
If you do a search on the site for your 'scra1941' name you should see a list of everything you've uploaded.  It's an impressive list too!  :)

Well, a good deal of what I've uploaded anyway. According to my records, I've uploaded (or scanned for ABPC and someone else has uploaded) something like 84 books/partial books including the three I just did.

Speaking of which, Tom Mix Western #43 and Young Eagle #6 and 10 are up, completing my posting of Fawcett Westerns, and finishing my CDs!!!

That means I can finally start scanning my own stuff again, which is great because there is a lot I've been wanting to get to, but not so great because it's more time consuming than just going through CDs. I'm not sure when I can start scanning, but it probably won't be until at least next week, maybe even as late as Thanksgiving break. I hope not that long though.

Hi Eric,
Yes, there were more than a few scans of your uploaded by others - like me!
Most were incomplete so any updates you wanted to do (larger or cover to cover), please don't hesitate.

Thanks for the new books and I look forward to seeing some 'fresh off the scanner' books in the future.  :)

After some Photoshop crashing issues, I have finally finished scanning and posting Target Comics vol.2 no.8! This is one of my favorite GA series, and the Target and the Targeteers is one of my favorite features of any era. I'm so glad to see all of the other issues that have been posted, and hope they keep coming! I'm looking forward to one day having a complete set of Target Comics scans! Thanks all!!!

I've also uploaded a temporary fix for Hit Comics #14, replacing the damaged fiche page with a paper scan. This should surfice until I am able to scan the whole book.

Thanks Eric.
Just saw these now.  Sorry for the delay.

Not to discourage your efforts but could you perhaps try using the UPLOAD link found on the site instead of the FTP?  The link is now working (just use ZIP or CBZ and no CBR uploads).

I prepared a visual tutorial of how it works.  It's quicker for mods to add single books to the site if you as an uploader use it.  Now if you were wanting to upload multiple books in a single session the FTP is still best but single books this method is better.  And you can also add your own description and a cover thumbnail too.

If you'd rather not that's fine too but if you didn't mind cool.

It seems like forever since I posted a book! Ajax-Farrell's Black Cobra #6 [2] is now up on the FTP. Thrilling Comics #8 should be coming up soon. I'm prepping the scans now.

Thank you Eric!  ;D

The Black Cobra is now live on the download site. A question ... what significance does the "[2]" have? Was this a second run of the book? vol2 #6??? I'm beyond ignorant (its true!) so I'm just asking.  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks again!

It's Black Cobra "#6," but really it's the 2nd issue. As far as I know #1 and 3 were labled correctly, this issue just took up numbering from Billy Bunny.

Paper upgrade of Hit Comics #14 is going up right now to the FTP. It's a coverless copy, so the ifc, ibc, and back cover are still fiche, and the front is from Heritage, but the rest of the book is complete.

Red Circle Comics #4 - Sabu Edition is going up right now.

This is a bit of an odd duck. The first page (story pages 2-3) is damaged, the only thing keeping this from being a "complete" book. Contents appear to be an unpublished issue of Fox's Sabu "Elephant Boy," wrapped in unused cover from Rural Home's Red Circle Comics #4.The book is complete other than the damaged page, even though page 1 of the first story is missing. Fox would have printed that on the inside front cover. Also, the last two pages of the book, which would have been advertisements, are blank newsprint, and thus have been left out of this scan. Variations of Red Circle Comics #4 exist with other Fox leftovers. One known variation features an issue of Dorothy Lamour Comics. The others are unknown.

Because it's a Fox remainder, it might be good to post in in both publishers.
