New to the site. I love this site and have been using it for many years as one of my main research sites, not sure why I haven't signed up till now but glad I did and after going thru some of the forums sounds like they are a lot of knowledgeable people here. I am looking forward to picking the brains of some of this knowledge as I have a lot of questions and I also am hoping to contribute to the history of comics from the golden age.
I think Movielover has seen my post to this cover of Bulletman #13 on a site that I posted to earlier. I have ( I believe ), the only cover to issue #13, and this is backed up by the insignia that I also have. There was a lot going on at this time in the world, with the war going on and ending, paper shortage etc... and along with all this stuff going on, the press that this was being printed at was supposedly owned by none other than the infamous Mr. Victor Fox. Mr Fox's press, ( or whoever owned this press ), printed quite a few of Fawcett comics along with other comic companies, but that's another story, He was also in trouble at this time and was reportedly going into or into bankruptcy, so right at this time one could pick the poison as to why this issue was never printed, it could be none of the above also. The insignia I have to go along with this #13 issue says second class postage was to be paid at Wilkes Barre PA, which is where the printing press was, when they changed the issue to #15 on it, the published issue says second class postage ( this usually indicates where the comics were printed ), was greenwich conn, which indicates they switched printers of this comic, this could also be another reason for not printing #13, the time it took to get the plates from one printer to the other, so this is what I know about this comic based on the material I have, it all seems to fit, one way or the other. The only difference between #13 and #15 is the issue # and issue date, I cannot say anything about the story as I only have the cover proof and insignia page ( which by the way, looks like it just came off the press ).
