She and patient Eugene fall in love, but she bungles during an operation and he’s blinded. Her next boyfriend Bob dies in a diving accident. Lois feels guilty but her sessions with Edward cure her. When Edward proposes marriage, she’s afraid she’ll subconsciously harm him. Edward puts her to a risky test and she passes, so they can now wed. |

Synopsis | In 1729, highborn Elizabeth pits her many suitors against each other. She falls in love with Robert, governor of Barbados, and sails there with him. On the island, Elizabeth realizes Robert is cold at heart, and she falls in love with Malcolm, a bond-slave. Malcolm joins a revolt and agrees to kill Elizabeth himself but allows her to escape instead. Learning Robert plans to wipe out the rebels, Elizabeth returns to warn them. Malcolm kills Robert and the escaped slaves sail off to freedom in America; Elizabeth accompanies Malcom to begin a new life. |

She falls in love with French count Jacques, then learns he plans to give away his castle and fortune to help poor people harmed by the war. When Annie protests, Jacques breaks up with her. Annie learns poor people deserve decent lives and when the castle catches fire, she risks her life to help Jacques escape. They reconcile and will dedicate their lives to doing good. |
