Synopsis | Libby’s lighthouse-keeper father tosses her diary into the sea. Ship captain Gil returns it to her, but she’s embarrassed because her romantic fantasies were written there. Gil and Libby fall in love but her father doesn’t want her to marry a sailor. Nicholas, a shipping executive, has her father’s approval and he tricks Libby into thinking Gil is already married. Libby falls for Nicholas but learns he’s scheming to wreck Gil’s ship for insurance purposes. Libby saves the ship, Nicholas falls out of lighthouse to his death, and Gil and Libby are reunited. |

Irene explains Dr. Clark has been spreading those rumors because she won’t marry him: Irene loves Jimmy. There is an explosion in the lab and Irene risks her life to save Jimmy’s records: however, he only cares that she is safe because he loves her. |

On the ship, Monica and Joel are each courted by wealthy people, named Harold and Catherine respectively, but fall in love with each other until they discover they’re both poor. They break up and decide to marry their rich suitors, but at the last minute realize it’s better to marry for love. Catherine and Harold also form a couple. |
