These are some of my favroite scans! It's nice to read tales of a really cultured man. Let's be just like him. A regular role model. Pulpshmoo

Additional Information

January, First MonthFebruary, Second Month
Walk now among the forest trees --
Saidst thou that they were stript and bare?
Each heavy bough is bending down
With snowy leaves and flowers-- the crown
   Which Winter regally doth wear.
The sun peeps through the window-pane,
Which children mark with laughing eye,
And in the wet street steal again,
To tell each other Spring is nigh.
March, Third MonthApril, Fourth Month
The little brooks run on in light,
      As if they had a chace of mirth;
The skies are blue, the air is warm,
Our very hearts have caught the charm
That sheds a beauty over earth.
The primrose bud, spring's early pledge.
      Sprouts 'neath each woodland tree,
   And rivlets under every hedge
      Prepare a seat for thee.
May, Fifth MonthJune, Sixth Month
The trees still deepen in their bloom,
      Grass greens the meadow lands,
And flowers with every morning come,
      As dropt by fairy hands.
The season now is all delight,
      Sweet smile the passing hours,
And summers's pleasures, at their height,
Are sweet as are her flowers.
July, Seventh MonthAugust, Eighth Month
While waking birds betake to flight
      From off each roosting bough,
While nature's locks are wet with night,
      How sweet to wander now!
When noon is in the flaming sky,
      Seek me some shadowy, silent wood;
   Recline upon a mossy knoll,
Cast care aside, and yield the soul
   To that luxurious quietude.
September, Ninth MonthOctober, Tenth Month
The maid afield now leaves the farm,
With dinner basket on her arm,
   Loitering unseen in narrow lane,
To be o'ertook by following swain.
Arise, thou child of nature, rise!
      Arouse thy slumbering spirit now!
The Autumn sheaves are on the hill,
And solemn are the woods and still,
With clustering fruits on every bough.
November, Eleventh MonthDecember, Twelfth Month
There's not a flower upon the hill,
      There's not a leaf upon the tree;
The summer-bird hath left its bough,
Bright child of sunshine, singing now
In spicy lands beyond the sea.
Around the flowing hearth at night,
The harmless laugh and winter tale
Go round, while parting friends delight
To toast each o'er their ale.
