Bess realizes Joe is “twice the man” that Tony is. |

Some time later, Gilbert says he’s lost his money and they move to a small apartment. Laura confesses she married him for money and he leaves her. Laura moves in with Jeannie and her husband and changes her attitude. Gilbert returns and they reconcile. |

Paul is attracted to Priscilla and she thinks she can convince him to change his plans, but he refuses. Priscilla gets his credit cut off, then learns Paul is a wounded veteran who loves the town as well as she does. She gets everyone to help build the motel and Paul and Priscilla admit their love for each other. |
