Synopsis | Farm girl Johanna is sad when boyfriend Jim is drafted. She is wooed by farm equipment salesman Frank, who is mature and sophisticated, but her parents oppose the relationship due to the age difference. When Johanna refuses to stop seeing Frank, her father forces her to move out. Johanna goes to the city to be with Frank, and meets his wife. Frank claims his marriage is a sham, but his wife pleads with Johanna to leave her husband alone. Johanna returns to her parents’ farm, repentant. |

Mona apologizes to Evans, says the blame was hers, and asks him to rehire Kent. She gets another job and changes her personality. Kent reappears and they reconcile. |

Bill offers to marry Lorraine before he’s shipped overseas but she says she doesn’t want to add to his worries. They can wait until he returns. |

Synopsis | Office worker Betty is a compulsive shopper and always broke as a result. She borrows money from a finance company to go on vacation with co-worker Gloria. At the resort, she meets Don and they arrange to reunite in the city. Betty lies to her boss and gets a pay advance to buy a new dress, but her scheme is uncovered and she’s fired. Don proposes marriage but only if Betty changes her spendthrift ways. However, she pawns her engagement ring and Don breaks up with her. Betty exerts self-discipline and repays her debts. Don is impressed with the new Betty and they reconcile. |
