"Bodies Are Where You Find Them" was written in 1941 by Davis Dresser as Brett Halliday. It was the fifth novel in the Mike Shayne series of 70 novels. Only 33 were written by Dresser. Afterwards, ghost writers tried to make Shayne more exciting... but failed by 1976. The novel's plot was very complicated in 190 pages as a paperback and for this reason, VERY complicated to explain here in 27-pages. I've read both versions now and can see why this comic book only lasted for 3 issues. They were not appealing to young readers or experienced Shayne fans. Notice how Shayne's wife, Phyllis, leaves on vacation on page 2. She had been married to Shayne in book 3, then became a meddling nuisance in the next novels and kidnapped in novel 4 and 6, finally dead by novel 8.
