I notice on the cover of this book a star with the copy "Conforms to the comics code". I was curious as to what code this is referring to? I love watching the old TV series "The Naked City" and these books seem like the comic book segue into that genre of TV show. Thank you for bringing these books back for another look.

It’s the Association of Comics Magazine Publishers code, an attempt by several publishers getting together to ward off criticism of comics, such as racial stereotypes and potentially trauma-inducing sadistic images, getting into the hands of kids. It’s pretty much a parallel of the Hays Code of movies, in which a lot of people pretty much ignored it, and it wasn’t until years later that more people were compelled it to take it more seriously.

Though the credits suggest Leonard Starr for "The Greedy Fence," it looks to me like Charles Raab. Just a guess.
