SynopsisI listened as Inspector Gavin explained how he found the body of a dead artist named Wells at 11 a.m. He tried at once to get in touch with Wells' only relative, a cousin who lived across town, but there was no response. Around 1 p.m., the cousin arrived. I asked him where he'd been and he said he'd been home asleep and the phone was out of order. He said, "I only learned about my cousin when I read it in the newspaper after I got up". I suggest that he better start telling the truth. I'll explain. In the case of the know-it-all, the suspect said he read about his cousin in the newspaper after he got up, since the man died at 11 a.m. There hadn't been time for the story to appear in the afternoon papers. Poor reporting!
