| Synopsis | All the testimony that the witness, Slade, gave against an accused suspect seemed sound enough to Sheriff Barker, but I wanted to hear it again for myself. The witness claimed he'd arrived at the terrace of the dead man's house and just before knocking, heard a phone being dialed inside. He waited. Apparently the call wasn't completed because he heard the phone placed back on the receiver at once. Then he heard angry voices that couldn't tell what they were saying. Then the sound of a shot. But his story didn't convince me. I'll tell you why. In the case of the curious eavesdropper, if the witness could hear the sound of a telephone being dialed from outside, he certainly would have heard the angry conversation held later. A poorly attempted frame-up. | ||||
