| Notes | THE LEGION OF SPACE #1 – Looking for classic science fiction space opera? This comic was created by a 17 year old Australian named Phillip Wearne before he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force, planning to become a pilot. (Yes, he was too young to enlist, but he wasn’t too concerned about the law.) He didn’t pass the pilots course, and, after returning to civilian life, he legally reclaimed the rights from the original publishers and contracted to produce a series for Invincible Press. It took place over four issues (of which this is the first) before the truth came out: the ideas in the comic had been plagiarised from a then obscure science fiction novel, The Legion of Space, written by Jack Williamson, released in paperback after the comic was published.
