LONE WOLF 34 was published by Atlas Publications in November 1953 (estimated). It includes two features: the Australian LONE WOLF by Keith Chatto, and a reprint of a US story of the AMERICAN EAGLE by John Severin, in this case reprinted from Prize Comics Western 95 (which is available in colour elsewhere on this site). This issue is late in Chatto’s run on this title (his last regular issue is 39), but some of the presentation shows he is moving towards his style on El Lobo. I like Chattos artwork in this book better than his work in El Lobo, where his inking had so much detail that it was difficult to distinguish the outer boundaries of his characters and horses from the background scenery, too many dark lines of similar size. It just looked like a lot of black lines jumping off the page into the readers eyes. In this book book, they are all lighter and less thick, and the outer lines are more discernable. So, I could better tell what is happening in the scenes. The shading and dark and light bounaries work better, as well.
