THE BOSUN AND CHOCLIT FUNNIES 2 by George Needham (using the pen name George Robb), was published by Elmsdale Publications in August 1946 (estimated). Some readers may find this comic offensively racist, but it was considered acceptable back when it was published. Choclit is the brains of this duo, and appears to be an interpretation of Black American comic caricatures which makes it borrowed racism rather than homegrown Australian racism, which doesn’t really help. As well as this comic series, George Needham was also the artist on Elmsdale’s Felix the Cat. Because they couldn’t use syndicated proofs of the American publishing, Needham recreated the American Felix strips by redrawing them in as close to an identical way as he could manage.
