sorry about the bad luck Paw. I know it may be rough, but avoid as many pain pills as possible the addiction can be far worse than the pain ever was. It is an epidemic in the US

Thanks chaps.  The doctor has told us to use over-the-counter painkillers, none of the heavy duty prescription stuff, and has given us a limit.  So that's the advice we're following.  She has to see the specialist in a couple of weeks, so we'll see how she's getting on and what happens after that. Mind you, Linda can't do a lot with her arm in a sling and her confidence low, so I'm knackered, running about like a baf.

What a depressing week/10 days this has been.  First, a member of a group of blokes who were at school together - we meet up regularly for lunch, chat and reminiscences - died suddenly.  Immediately followed by news that another of our friends was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Then another three friends revealed they had serious illnesses, and my brother-in-law, who suffers from MS, has been having a lot of medical and social assessments.
I suppose it's that we're all getting older but it sometimes feels as if bits of my life are breaking off and fading away.

Sorry for all the bad news. We are made with temporary earthly bodies that wear out.

My sincere condolences...I'm sorry to hear about the losses and illnesses. I understand your feeling that "bits of life are breaking off." It's sobering to see obits of old schoolmates begin to appear. It must be good to have a group of old friends with whom to see it through.

Shocker this morning. My youngest niece passed away in her sleep for no apparent reason. She was in her early 50's and never sick that I know off.

Autopsy results were early stage lung cancer, blockage in the heart and some lung disease that triggered a heart attack. A trifeca of otherwise survivable conditions. She was never one to complain.
