The 1960s produced plenty of strange, surreal comics concepts, but perhaps none was stranger than SUPER GREEN BERET. Superheroes had fought in World War II, but this was a whole different ball of wax. Otto Binder must have seriously misjudged the attitudes of young comic book readers towards America's involvement in Vietnam. There is even one story here where Super Green Beret travels back in time to fight the Nazis, seeming to metaphorically compare the two wars as no different.
