My current watching schedule, I'm doing DVDs during the week, and old self-recorded videotapes on the weekend, as I'm systematically plowing thru EVERY movie in my 45-year collection. (I'm still adding more items to the "by year" list, as I'm organizing the tapes after decades of neglect.) Going thru "1966" right now.
During the week:
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (got this on Blu-Ray a couple months ago! Have not seen most of these UNCUT since they were first-run. They include many "deleted scenes" as extras, which really gives you a feeling of just how chaotic and screwed up the early part of the run was, as several episodes were clearly broadcast out of sequence due to changes being made behind-the-scenes.)
TERRAHAWKS (got this on Blu-Ray some months ago; was shocked to learn the local Philly channel in the 80s was not only CUTTING every episode, but had SPED UP the film as well. Great to FINALLY see them properly, and in an order that makes sense.)
THE NBC MYSTERY MOVIES (I'm actually watching all of these that I can lay my hands on, in BROADCAST order, something I could never have done before. Infuriatingly, my favorite of them, McCLOUD, the 2021 VEI Region 1 DVD set, when you reach season 3, which was never issued before, the episodes are suddenly from PAL copies-- running at the wrong speed. I have complained to VEI 3 times so far, suggesting they need to re-issue the entire EXPENSIVE box set on Blu-Ray, as right now, their current DVD box wouldn't play right in its entirely on EITHER side of the Atlantic. NO problem so far with COLUMBO, McMILLAN & WIFE, BANACEK, THE SNOOP SISTERS. MADIGAN is a set from France; HEC RAMSEY and COOL MILLION are terrible bootleg copies, I mean, geez, my own video copies of HEC RAMSEY look wayyyy better; somebody needs to put all these shows out officially.)
THE AVENGERS (about halfway thru the Tara King episodes on Region 2 Blu-Ray; it's infuriating that the first 3 seasons are ONLY available on Region 2 DVDs, which means, PAL, which run too fast in the US; the entire run of this series, including the 70s revival, NEEDS to be on Blu-Ray. I am SO looking forward to getting the Joanna Lumley episodes on disc, in whatever quality they may be. I just hope they're NTSC copies.)
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (I got the entire 7 seasons on Blu-Ray; I'd never seen a single episode from season 1, now I'm waiting to see if I can recognize where I came in on season 2, way back in 1967.)
VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA / THE MAN FROM UNCLE (I'm alternating between season 1 episodes of these, watching in broadcast order, their best episodes; both shows started to get stupid already by 1965!)
KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER (got this on Blu-Ray, I've heard the previous DVDs looked like CRAP. The CBS Late Movie did a terrible job when I taped them in the early 80s; they cut all the opening theme songs, and 5 whole episode were missing; plus, they NEVER ran the 2 earlier movies either; I still have to upgrade those to disc, but it's nice to see the 20 episodes looking this damned good.)
SPACE PRECINCT (my #1 favorite Gerry Anderson show, I got a "like new" 2010 DVD box, and it's looking FABULOUS. I just read they're planning to reissue it on Blu-Ray, but I figure, if they do, I'll just get that and then send the DVD box to my best friend. The WRITING on this is the VERY BEST ever done on any Gerry Anderson show, and he had several feature film directors working on the show, including John Glen, who did 5 007 films in a row in the 80s.)
In addition, at bedtime, I'm watching my tapes of GET SMART, and my discs of UNHAPPILY EVER AFTER and ULYSSES 31.
