Hi guys,
Blackshade here again.
Y'know, I've always thought that
Fawcett's horror line deserved a lot more attention than it ever got, so a few years back, I put together a two-volume collection of stories from
This Magazine is Haunted, Beware! Terror Tales and
Worlds of Fear. Fawcett's supernatural fiction was never as sophisticated as EC's "New trend", but the artwork included some of the best on offer at that time, care of veteran cartoonists such as
Sheldon Moldoff,
Mike Sekowsky,
Bernard Baily, and
Bob Powell.
Anyway, while the covers are rendered in colour, the interiors are all black & white scans based on the original photostats (some of you might like to colorize these stories using photoshop; I for one would be interested in seeing the results). Click the images posted above to download the CBRs (and be careful to download
only the comics,
don't click on the adhost link at the bottom of the page). Don't worry, they're totally free and completely legal, being derived from public domain sources.
While we're at it, I was thinking of expanding the collection by adding
"thematic" volumes, dealing with recurring elements of 1950s horror (eg,
Vampires,
Demons,
The Grim Reaper, etc). Here's a mock-up for a volume on the ever-popular "
Walking Corpse" genre; let me know if you think the project is worth pursuing:
Enjoy.
Ciao, Blackshade9
