I'm not so fond of figs - but I do like pasta - your venison meatball pasta sounds great.

My own speciality is smoked salmon in a sauce that includes thickened cream, mushrooms, mixed peppers and garlic. A bit pricey perhaps but as an occasional treat......

Another homemade pasta sauce I like is Tomato & Chorizo soup (available from Lidl - but probably elsewhere too) thickened either with cornflour or by using the Roux method - with added cooked chicken and mushrooms. Worth a shot.

Both sound dead tasty but I have to avoid milk fats, so cheese - apart from a wee bit of goats, ewes is out.  Also cream, but I never liked cream.  We only use skimmed milk. 
We're lucky as there's a fish merchant close by with a great selection of fish and seafood and he bakes Scottish salmon on the premises.  There is a good selection of different flavours as well as smoked.
Something we've been having recently is free range chicken breast cut into smallish pieces and sauteed for a minute or two.  Then add mushrooms, chestnuts, shallots, a good sploosh of Marsala and chicken stock and let the lot simmer. It can be thickened up by whatever method you prefer.

Many, many thanks to Ar; Comix; Ranjan; Udai, the fab 4 who have researched, collected and collated the Ace O'Hara strip. Another 5 from them today.  Following Basil Blackaller's death in 1958, art chores fell to Tony Speer.  Story 13 has one tier in Portuguese and in story 15 there are 6 tiers in Portuguese. English versions of these tiers remain elusive.  It also means that this strip appeared in either a Portuguese or Brazilian paper. More research needed as it could have been in other countries' papers.You can find them here:-

As we've been discussing Steve Larrabee and Lone Star recently, I discovered that there was a comic strip adventure of the character in Rover in 1957, so I found the appropriate issues and extracted the pages and compiled them.  All from scans by our late friend bede.  It is odd that this character published by DCMT/Atlas should appear in a DCT title.  Still trying to find out who drew this strip.  You can find the story here:-

The Four Just Men date from 1905? And here I'd thought they were 1920s characters. Actually the brief series ended in the twenties. I first encountered the characters in the 1959 British TV series, which aired on a Seattle indy station in the 1960s. The TV series kept only the title and the number of Men from the novels. Everything else was new.

What's really fun is the story behind the original novel. I found it in Wikipedia. Edgar Wallace ran a promotional contest tied to the book through the Daily Mail newspaper. Being "enthusiastic, but without any substantial managerial skill," Wallace failed to think the project through and wound up owing a fortune to a slew of prize winners. When impatient winners began to suspect a fraud, the Daily Mail loaned Wallace ?5000 to pay them off and protect the paper's reputation. Wallace went bankrupt and sold the rights to The Four Just Men for ?75. Details here:

Me again--that "Book Series in Order" site is a great idea, but I couldn't believe it doesn't follow the standard--and sensible--practice of alphabetizing authors by last name and book titles without the initial "The." So you don't find Edgar Wallace under "Wallace" but under "Edgar," and a whole mountain of books are crammed together simply because their titles began with "The." This really slows down research. Taking a random example, Tarzan and the Ant Men and Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar would appear together under TA as you'd expect but The Tarzan Twins would be listed under TH. Similarly books by Doc Smith credited to E. E. Smith would in one place while those credited to Edward E. Smith would be in another.

As Bowers mentions, these comics originated on another site where I'm a member, and we have arrangements to share files.  We take care not to publicise the other site, just in case. 
As for the watermarked issues, I'm a bit concerned about them and I'm waiting for advice/opinions.
I still need art i/d and scanner attributions so thinking caps on, please.
Also, I still don't have a scanner, so I have to keep digging and making compilations to compensate.
