I'm working on a documentary about the French Foreign Legion as seen through the eyes of pop culture. Naturally, that includes comics, so I've been searching the web looking for more FL comics and somehow was led to this site.

Frank

I thought I replied to this, Frank, but I don't see a post, so again I'll recommend that you be certain to review a copy of Alex Toth's "Battle Flag of the Foreign Legion" in Danger Trail #3, Nov-Dec, 1950. It's from DC, and not PD, so you won't find a copy here, but do check it out. You can see the title page from it on my Alex Toth biography here:
http://www.bpib.com/illustra3/Toth/toth.html

Peace, Jim (|:{>

Jim,

Thank you so much. That's a Legion comic I didn't know about -- so now the search is on. I appreciate the information.

Frank I wrote to my fellow GCD indexers for more examples. This is what I have culled from their responses so far. I will add more if it comes in. Many are not public domain but I may be able to get you scans of some for research purposes.

EC's Two Fisted tales had a series
Captain Strong in Daring Mystery

There is a Sgt. Fury story where they join up with a Legion outpost  and fight the Nazis.   It might be this issue: http://www.comics.org/details.lasso?id=19038

Try these:   http://tinyurl.com/cny2yw   http://tinyurl.com/cewtgw

Hello DBNeal from Southern California,
Did a web search on yahoo. I was
looking for a comic I saw several
weeks ago called Magician From Mars.
And old comic from the late 1930s
about a girl with from Mars with
super powers. I really like what I
saw and have been trying to
find it again. I wish I bookmark it.

Slight Correction - Jane The Magician from Mars appeared in Amazing Man Comics 7-11.  All of her appearances can be found online at http://gotomars.free.fr/magician.html saving people the trouble of downloading the AMC files if Jane is all they're interested in.

I have my own two dogs but welcome to the site mytwodogs. Everything here is old but a lot of fun. Look around download what you like and maybe you will have something we are missing that you may be able to contribute.  Louis hopefully you will find some other things here to enjoy since Eagle is not public domain we can not house it here. Lots of other great stuff though.

I found you as the result of a request on a newsgroup site.
I was looking for "original" Captain Marvel comics, your site was recommended.

Must say this is the best comic site ever.

If you got to the main site, log in and poke around.  Or poke around and log in, either works.  If you can't find the main site, it's goldenagecomics.co.uk (i.e., remove everything in the address above from "forum" on).

Welcome, in the meantiime.

I typed in Download Golden Age Comics on google in my mad search for Skyman material while researching the character for my Bounty Hunter series.

Glad I found this place.  In addition to Skyman, I've been enjoying the Black Terror stuff, and Daredevil, not to mention a few others.

Wish I could pay you guys back by scanning my copy of Skyman #2 like I said I would ages ago, but somebody stole my scanner a while back(which you may recall, I had packed in the shed in preparation for a move) so I haven't been able to do it.

Any trustworthy Canadians on the site who want to do it for me?  Of course, I want the book back when you're done.  :)

We might get Dell_4C to do it.  He's Canadian and trustworthy (even if he does root for Les Habs).

So does that mean he's in Montreal?  Cause that's not too far from my stomping grounds in Ontario.

I don't mind covering the shipping costs to a fellow Canadian, both there and back to me again.  All he'd have to do is scan the book. :)

well, and not spill coffee or beer on it, as well.
