Teen comics often sold very well, they weren't cued into the Batman craze

I remember being seriously offended by that show...at least,  as offended as a 10-year old kid CAN be.   Who was this fat guy and full-grown young man?  They had a vague resemblence to two of my favorite comic book characters, but they dared to play him for laughs?

Eight years after that I discovered pot, and thanks to reruns, finally understood both the craze and why it came and went so fast!

As a fan of the 1960's "Batman" TV series, I often wondered what would have happened if they played it "Straight" with perhaps just a touch of humor like the Bond films, would it have been a hit?

Perhaps, it would have been.

If the Batman TV series had been more series it probably would have lasted a lot longer but took awhile to gather a non-comic fan following. Think the Superman TV series which had not ended but a decade before. I doubt it would have been the huge hit that caused a big "camp" explosion. The same thing that it made it such a hit doomed it to an early demise. But it sure was a fun ride. I will say that even at 11years old it was too formulaic for me to keep watching into the third year if not for Batgirl who even at 11years old made me go POW-ZAP-WHAM

That show did inspire Bill Finger to start his long and glorious screenwriting career.

He wrote "Track of the Moon Beast," a piece of dreck so bad the Public Domain wants to give it back!

Speaking of screen writing. Anyone know what western was extremely well written by Star Trek creater Gene R?

The 1950's Superman TV Series was more aimed at kids than BATMAN was.

Those were the kids of the WW2 soldiers who readily read Superman. So they would be able to watch it and enjoy it as much as their kids.

And Julie Newmar sure made me want to play with dolls when she starred in MY LIVING DOLL of course as Catwomen she made me pull for the bad gals

I must admit I was a fan of the show - I mean it was in color (a big deal for me -as my dad bought our first color TV set around that time), the humor was very funny in a contemporary style -although I had to wait until it was in reruns to get the jokes. I even bought some Batman trading cards related to the show that were pretty cool.

It appears that a number of folks are selling the series on dvd. Weird...I cannot see how this show would not be copyrighted, and I have never seen an official release of a dvd set, much less one containing every single episode from the series.

Honestly, no one should even post a link to such questionable material on GAC -- of course, it is usually a newbie that does so. Something about newbies and questionable material -- flies to shiite, moths to flame, Rob Lefield to anatomy.

No, that's a bootleg site out of the pacific rim - a friend of mine bought some stuff from them and it's crap!

There's actually a small group of these "pirates" who set up a group of these sites, take peoples money,get shut down and start up again.

I've been trying to watch the 60's Batman on a local channel lately, and trying to get my kids to watch it (it's more of a matter of me remembering it's on when I get home from work). It's fun, and the kids got to see the Batusi the other night.

That would be Have Gun Will Travel. An excellent series, but the stories often seem a tad rushed to me. Maybe it's just me, but I wonder what they could have done with an hour-long format.

Yes Have Gun was by Roddenberry. Well written great humor. They also alternated between staight and with humor. I think that was smart as it broke it up all done well.
