They've been showing have Gun Will Travel on one of the cable premium channels lately, the all western channel.
Great series, ahead of its time ,and in some ways still ahead of its time.

Paladin was a man of honor who would not hesitate to bust a cap on you, but only if he personally thought you deserved it. You could buy his time, but you couldn't buy him.

As for a more realistic Batman, it would have lasted about as long as the Green Hornet. Some GH eps were very realistic so far as plot and villians went at least.

I liked the Batman TV show.  Truthfully, it wasn't all that different from the way the comics were at the time.  Of course, it did hurt the character for awhile thereafter, but I still want to see this series restored and put on DVD in full, unedited versions.

They were definitely making fun of the character and of comic books, but even with that, it still is an entertaining show.

Interesting fact - "Green Hornet" won it's timeslot on Friday nighta at 7:30pm, bur was cancled not becuase of raitings but becuase the show cost so much for a half-hour show. William Dozier and Fox wanted to expand to an hour (Which the original pilot, "Beautiful Dreamer" was written as)and ABC (Who just had a management team change) didn't! So Fox just pulled the show.

Ironicly,the show it lead into "The Time Tunnel" also won it's time slot,and got an extra 4 episodes added to the season  (Which is why it has 30 shows,not 25) - It WAS renewed by the prevous managment team, but when the new team came in, it decided not to renew the series. and replace it with the short lived western CUSTER.

I liked the Superman TV show from the 50's. A guy on our block where I grew up looked like him so my friends and I called him Superman. I was luke warm on the Hulk show from the 70's. He was so much wimpier than the comics.

I could hardly make it through an episode of the tv hulk. Better than the first Big screen movie though.
The Hulk ended up with tv movies featuring Thor and Daredevil and another I think that were better than the series.

I have some of the tv Hulk dvds. I really enjoy the entire series, but particularly the Thor and Daredevil tv movies because of their sheer camp!

I remember being in 6th grade when Batman came on TV.  I had such high hopes.  I think I made it through 5 episodes.  I believe that Batman slowed the development and serious treatment of the super-hero genre by 2 decades.  Maybe more. 

Comics started to reflect some of the stylings and camp stuff from the Batman TV show back on to themselves.  Go-Go checks and "zap, pow" overdone on some pages.  I stopped reading and didn't return to the medium for years.

I guess that the sales boost that the show gave to the medium in general was probably needed at the time, with greater licensing revenues on top of it. 

Still irritates me though.  Can't watch it even now.

They probably got an influx of readers from the show that probably didn't read the comics much. Even if they lost some readers but gained some and broke even, they would have thought it was working fine.

I've been trying to get through the Wonder Woman dvd's (although I got stuck on season 2, and haven't picked it up in a few years). It's just the same thing over and over and over again.

Kind of the same with Isis, but I'm a big fan of Joanna Cameron.

I'm afraid the Hulk would be the same way. Even as a kid I found the show to be very repetitive, and it kind of left a bad impression on me. It's one show I don't ever want to watch again.

I recently picked up the first 2 seasons of Greatest American Hero. I'm not expecting much, but I love the theme song.

They all disappointed me. Although you could overlook the quality of the WW show for the quality of the body in the suit

As far as watching WW for the show, I have to say that was a far second. To be honest, I'm trying to remember even one plotline from that entire series without confusing it with the A-team, magnum P.I. or MacGyver. Usually someone was tied up to a bomb or something, a jeep flipped in slo-mo and the bad guys all scurried away with only bruised egos, not injuries. But I do remember every time Linda Carter spun around to that theme music. Oh My...

As far as Batman the T.V. series: I'm surprised there aren't more people here who are/were into it at least for the art direction: ex.- the colors used were all very pulp-comic like and even the ZAP! POW!s were a direct nod to the 2d form. Granted, it was cheesier than fondue, but it had Julie Newmar and Cesar Romero and Burgess Meredith, etc... I think it was one hell of a cast with one hell of an art director and one hell of a mediocre writing/directing staff. What do you guys think?

I really loved Batman the first year. It was into the second that I got so tired of Batman&Robin trapped instead of just killed then they get out. But they could not make the likeable criminals Killers. Well they were "intended" killers just not good at it because they had to be dramatic. I know that was the way it was but even a ten year old got tired of it. Then the third had only Batgirl to make it worth watching. Just think if they would have made the Batgirl spinoff. If they could have made it along the lines of Green Hornet and given GH a chance. GH was great for the time and could have made it if not for the Batman backlash

We went with watching LIS on Wednesday and catching up with the Batman recap on Thursday. It was never a surprise Batman always started out trapped on Thursday and got out of it somehow. I had forgotten all about that until your mention Sky

Lost in Space.  That first season had me spellbound.  Then I discovered the Gold Key comics which I actually liked more.  In addition to a lot of adaptations of TV shows, Gold Key really blew me away.  Turok, Space Family Robinson, Might Samson, Magnus, and my all-time favorite, Brain Boy.

Ah, good times.
