What I want to know is, where did all those 1940s jungle girls find hair salons to get.their hair permed?

This is one of the great mysterys in comic history, just like the question of why extraterrestrials always are want to catch Earthwomen.  :o

Incidentally, there is one thing I know for sure and I say this respectfully and from painful experience: As far as women are concerned, never joke about hairstyle, figure, clothing or age. :-X  ::)  ;D

Oh, I don't know...

I had a friend who was a singer in a rock band.  One night, the band was all in shirts & tight jeans, but she was wearing a full-length LOW-CUT gown.

After the show, I kidded her... "That's a nice outfit you're ALMOST NOT wearing!"  She laughed.

If they didn't secretly want to be used in unholy alien breeding experiments they wouldn't dress like that.

I've always wondered about the movie serial bad guys who helped extraterrestrial villains like Retik the Moon Menace with their plans to destroy the earth. What did the villain offer them to convince them to blow up the only home they'd known? Lots of hot Moon maidens? Heaps of gold which wouldn't do them any good when there was nothing left to buy? Maybe they didn't consider that after the villain succeeded they'd live the rest of their lives as terrestrial ex-pats who'd never really fit in on the Moon or Mars or wherever. It's kind of sad, really.

That's a good question.  One of the stories I have in mind involves a situation like that, so I definitely need to figure out what the motivation would be for the criminal Earthman to act on behalf of an invading alien terrorist.......

When you think about the mundane elements like that, Who cuts Tarzan's hair? How does he shave?
If he was brought up by great apes, why would he bother?

Cheers!

Jane must cut his hair.  I wouldn't trust Boy, or a mischevious chimp to do that dangerous and important work.  The great apes don't care, but the film directors and comic strip and comic book editors would never let him get away with being slovenly and non-heroic.  They'd kill him off and write him out of the scripts if he didn't keep up the personal hygeine expected of a fantasy hero!

Tarzan learned to shave using his "claw" the long dagger he found in the ruins of the hut where his parents died and which he had used to kill the alpha male ape that had killed his father..
IIRC he took to shaving because the Africans he encountered had no facial hair. Most primitive people don't shave but prefer to pull each whisker out with tweezers made from sea shells. The Romans and Greeks did the same though in areas where volcanic glass is common barbers made single use razors by chipping away a slender piece which naturally formed an edge sharper than any steel razor.
He also almost ate the first African he encountered, going so far as to roast some of the flesh, but his instincts  would not let him continue.
Before encountering white men he just hacked away his hair with his "claw" a bit at a time when it got in his way. He learned proper grooming from a Belgian officer he had rescued. In later years he spent more time in civilized settings than in the jungle.

A band I was in in the '60's played locally in church halls etc. and we decided we should try for 2 girl backing singers.  We  chatted up 2 girls from our year at school and asked them to a tryout.  It just didn't work. Couldn't get harmonies right - we were more a beat group.  Worse, neither of them were wearing full-length LOW-CUT gowns.
So we went back to bass, drums, lead and me.   ::)
