Not only PPE, but also The Witchdoctor another comedy song from the same era. P S. I had an old 78rpm record with Transfusion and Dig on it by a guy called Nervous Norvus.

Duh! [Slaps forehead] I can't believe I didn't pick up on this. I was wondering why the heck the writer put a stereotype witch doctor in a story about the Purple People Eater. How could I have missed the reference when I still remember the lyrics? All together now!
