Good question.  I think a lot of times they just threw a word out there that sounded good to them, slapped "comics" underneath it, and let it go.  In other news, there are about 4 or 5 files in my share that need to be put on the site.  Go to it, guys!

Also, considering that thematic anthologies and single-character comics are still in the future in most cases, what else do you name your book?  Imagine the glee a young lad in the 1930s would feel at seeing the first issue of Ho-Hum Comics, Inaction Weekly, and Reading (This) Does Not Pay.

Someone also once pointed out to me that you can get away with less specificity earlier in a genre.  The first superhero can be named Superman.  The hundredth?  Not so much, because so many "super-men" have come before and the name rings hollow.  Likewise, you can only get away with Thrilling Comics early in the cycle, when there's (frankly) less to compare to.

Just uploaded an EXCITING COMICS #7, which was my scan, and a couple of WAMBIs, which weren't.  Enjoy.

Exciting now up.
Wambi 5 was actually 6 which we already had.
Isn't it annoying books are getting shared with the wrong number?

Thanks, Yoc, looks like you got that Wings too.  Also, I've combined the paper and fiche versions of JUMBO COMICS #14 and uploaded it to the FTP.  It's big, but it's worth it.

Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Door Tree, I've been able to upload about 3 more Doll Man stories from FEATURE we didn't have and improve two existing FEATUREs with paper scans of the Doll Man stories.  Also, there's still the completed JUMBO in my file...something wrong with that?

Thanks DM.
I only saw your posts today.

I hope you don't mind but I took a look and using FF's paper and Rolster's fiche for fills and got Jumbo14 down to a smaller 38mb.  I'll add it to the site to save space and bandwidth.

Many thanks for the Feature fills.

Glad to hear it. :)

I've just noticed Feature 52 & 53 have the same Dollman story inside DM.
Any chance of the real 53 story being added?

I've uploaded three singular Will Eisner stories from late Thirties Centaur Comics (including "Muss 'Em Up"), all of them nms, but what the hey.  And I'm in the process of refurbishing and uploading the last of my AIRBOY COMICS fiche scans that needed to be fixed.  Enjoy.

I haven't been able to locate your uploads yet, darkmark, but you reminded me that I have a scan of the complete "Muss 'Em Up" story over on my Comicartville.com site as well as two other Thirties Eisner stories. Here are the links and the comics they appeared in:

Detective Picture Stories #4 (March 1937)--"Muss 'Em Up"
http://comicartville.com/mussemuppg1.htm

Funny Picture Stories #4 (Feb. 1937)--"The Brothers 3"
http://comicartville.com/brothers3pg1.htm

Western Picture Stories #2 (March 1937)--"The Law of Caribou County"
http://comicartville.com/lawcariboupg1.htm

Hope you all enjoy. And if you care to read the entire Eisner article I wrote which has lots of rare scans, that link is here:

Ken, those Centaurs from DM are your scans.
I'll add them here with a note to see your article.

DM, we already have paper scans of Airboy Comics v7 03 (scanner unknown) so I wont add your fiche one.
You might want to double check what we already have before you start work on a duplicate issue number, it's only killing your own time in this case.  As a rule any issue without (fiche) in in its name is a paper scan.
Your Airboy Comics v04 05 was also an incomplete upload.  I cleaned up my older version of yours (with a paper scan of Flying Fool) and have uploaded it for you.  If you check you'll see how Photoshop can improve on the darkness of the original fiche.
I also have a c2c version of Airboy Comics v04 06 that is a complete paper scan.  I've uploaded it for you as well.
Say, if you have something just missing a page or two you can send me a message and I'll check if I have the missing pages for you.

Take care,
-Yoc

Thank you, Yoc! My article puts those particular stories in context (they were among the very first things to come out of the newly formed Eisner/Iger shop) and the folks frequenting this terrific site may enjoy seeing and reading about Will Eisner's formative years.

You're very welcome Ken.
I highly recommend http://comicartville.com gang.
Ken's article is a must read for Eisner fans and there are a LOT of other fine articles on the artists and publishers that make our hobby so interesting.

Well, thanks for the corrections and pointing out the Airboys, Yoc.  I've just uploaded a c2c scan of CLUE COMICS #4, with a few fiche pages added to round it out and the page order corrected.  Hope you enjoy.

Well, I uploaded a copy of AIRBOY COMICS V. 6 #11 which incorporates both Freddyfly's scans of Airboy and Heap and the remainder (except the missing covers) from Jodyanimator, which, I think, preserves the best features of both.  All yours.

Yvw, Astaldo.  Right now I'm working on updates of a few Whiz Comics, with paper scans of some stories provided by Mr. Door Tree and the fiche fills from me.  Two are up as of this writing and we have a few more to come.
